Major provisions of the Affordable Care Act will be going into effect this year. Medicaid Redesign in New York State is underway. As these significant changes to our health care system affect organizations in western and central New York, they also impact the people and communities they serve.
The constantly changing economic, policy and regulatory environment over the last several years has made it hard for organizations in our regions to keep up with these changes, let alone to get ahead of the curve and proactively prepare and plan for what’s coming down the road.
The Health Foundation for Western and Central New York recognizes the challenges many health and human service organizations face in maintaining the quality of their services to young children and frail elders during turbulent times.
Ready or Not, Here is Comes is designed to provide organizations with financial and expert assistance that will help them become strategic instead of reactive, and give them the time and breathing space to position themselves for future success.
Selected organizations will focus on improving their organizational capacity in order to strengthen the core of the organization. As a result, the Foundation believes this will enable them to better provide effective programs and supports to those they serve, and in the long term, ultimately improve health outcomes for children in poverty and/or frail elders.
In December 2012, the Health Foundation awarded grants to the following organizations:
-
Allegany/Western Steuben Rural Health Network, Wellsville, NY -
Amherst Meals on Wheels, Amherst, NY -
